Installing Dream MRP from the Shopify App Store takes a few minutes. This guide walks through every path — whether you're brand new to Dream MRP or already have an account.

How it works

Two paths.
One easy install.

When you click Add app in the Shopify App Store, Dream MRP checks whether your store's email address already belongs to a Dream MRP account. Depending on the answer, you'll follow one of two paths:

  • NEW New to Dream MRP — you'll receive a Microsoft invitation email and create a fresh account linked directly to your Shopify store.
  • EXISTING Already have an account — you'll choose whether to add the store to an existing organisation or create a brand-new one billed through Shopify.
step 1 / shopify
Add app in Shopify

Click Add app on the Dream MRP listing in the Shopify App Store. Shopify will redirect you to the Dream MRP authorisation page.

step 2 / shopify
Approve permissions

Dream MRP asks for permission to read your orders, products, and inventory. Approve the scopes to continue — Dream MRP only reads data it needs for planning.

step 3 / dream mrp
Email check

Dream MRP looks up the email address on your Shopify store. If it finds an existing account, you'll choose what to do. If not, it starts the account creation flow.

step 4 / dream mrp
Connected & ready

Your Shopify store is connected to Dream MRP. Orders sync automatically, and you can begin building Bills of Materials and running MRP calculations.

New users

First time?
We'll set you up.

If your Shopify store's email address doesn't match any existing Dream MRP account, we send you a Microsoft invitation email. This creates your secure Dream MRP account using Microsoft Entra — the same identity platform used by thousands of enterprise organisations worldwide.

You don't need to choose a username or password. Your Dream MRP account is secured by your Microsoft identity, which means you can sign in with any Microsoft-compatible account — including your personal Microsoft account.

The invitation email comes from Microsoft Invitations on behalf of Dream MRP App. Check your spam folder if you don't see it within a few minutes.

New user flow

Add app in Shopify App Store
Shopify redirects to Dream MRP to start the OAuth authorisation.

3
Invitation email sent
Dream MRP sends a Microsoft invitation to your store's email address. You're redirected to a confirmation page while you check your inbox.
4
Accept the invitation
Click Accept invitation in the email. You'll sign in with Microsoft and land directly in Dream MRP.
5
Organisation & integration created
Dream MRP automatically creates your organisation and connects your Shopify store. You land on the Integrations page, ready to start planning.
The invitation email

From Microsoft,
on behalf of Dream MRP.

The invitation is sent by Microsoft's identity platform on Dream MRP's behalf. The sender will show as Microsoft Invitations on behalf of Dream MRP App. The organisation listed is Dream MRP App and the domain is dreammrpapp.onmicrosoft.com.

The email contains a single Accept invitation button. Clicking it takes you through a brief Microsoft sign-in, after which you'll be redirected straight to your new Dream MRP account — with your Shopify store already connected.

Only accept this invitation if you initiated the install from the Shopify App Store. If you weren't expecting it, you can safely ignore it.

Existing users

Already have
an account?

If Dream MRP recognises your store's email address, you'll be shown a choice page before you sign in. You can see the email address that was matched, so you know exactly which account it belongs to.

You have two options: add the store as an integration to one of your existing Dream MRP organisations, or create a brand-new organisation billed separately through the Shopify App Store.

What you'll see

Your email address your@email.com already has at least one organisation in Dream MRP. How would you like to connect this Shopify store?

Add to existing organisation
Use the Shopify store alongside an existing Dream MRP organisation. Billing continues through your current plan.
USES CURRENT BILLING
Create new organisation
Create a separate Dream MRP organisation for this store. Billed through the Shopify App Store.
BILLED VIA SHOPIFY
Option A

Add to an
existing organisation.

Choose this if you already use Dream MRP (with Xero, QuickBooks, or another Shopify store) and want to add this new Shopify store to the same organisation. The store's data — orders, products, inventory — will flow into your existing MRP setup.

If you have multiple Dream MRP organisations, make sure you select the correct one after signing in. The store connects to whichever organisation is active when you land on the Integrations page.

This option uses your existing subscription. No additional Shopify billing is created.

Add to existing org — flow
1
Choose "Add to existing organisation"
You're taken to the Dream MRP sign-in page with a banner reminding you which Shopify store you're connecting.
2
Sign in to Dream MRP
Sign in with your existing provider (Microsoft, Xero, QuickBooks, or email). If you have multiple organisations, select the right one.
3
Automatic pickup on Integrations page
Dream MRP detects the pending Shopify connection and automatically links the store to your active organisation.
4
Connected
Your Shopify store appears in your Integrations list. Orders begin syncing immediately.
Option B

Create a
new organisation.

Choose this if you want to keep this Shopify store completely separate from your existing Dream MRP setup — for example, a second business, a different brand, or a store you manage for someone else.

A new Dream MRP organisation is created and billed through the Shopify App Store subscription. You can switch between organisations inside Dream MRP at any time.

Billing for this organisation is handled by Shopify. It appears as a recurring charge in your Shopify subscription billing.

Create new org — flow
1
Choose "Create new organisation"
You're taken to the Dream MRP sign-in page with a banner explaining a new org will be created for this store.
2
Sign in to Dream MRP
Sign in with your existing Dream MRP account. No need to create a new login — your existing identity is used for the new organisation too.
3
New organisation provisioned
Dream MRP creates the new organisation and connects your Shopify store automatically.
4
Shopify billing activated
Your Dream MRP subscription for this organisation is billed through the Shopify App Store. You can manage it from your Shopify admin.
Choosing

Which option
is right for you?

Not sure whether to add to an existing organisation or create a new one? The table on the right covers the most common scenarios.

If you're still unsure, the safest starting point is usually add to existing — you can always move to a separate organisation later.

Quick guide
  • ADD TO Same business, second store (e.g. a wholesale channel alongside your retail store)
  • ADD TO Store uses the same accounting system as your existing Dream MRP org
  • NEW ORG Entirely separate business with its own stock, suppliers, and accounting
  • NEW ORG Managing a store on behalf of a client or separate legal entity
  • NEW ORG You want a separate billing line for this store through Shopify
Common questions

Things people
ask us.

I didn't get the invitation email.

Check your spam or junk folder first. The email comes from Microsoft Invitations on behalf of Dream MRP App. If you still can't find it, restart the install from the Shopify App Store — a fresh invitation will be sent.

The invitation link expired.

Microsoft invitation links expire after a few days. If yours has expired, simply reinstall Dream MRP from the Shopify App Store and a new invitation will be generated.

I chose the wrong option at the choice page.

If you connected to the wrong organisation, you can disconnect the integration from the Dream MRP Integrations page and reinstall from Shopify to start the flow again.

Does Dream MRP need write access to Shopify?

Dream MRP requests write access to inventory so it can update stock levels when purchase orders are fulfilled. Orders and products are read-only.

Can I connect multiple Shopify stores?

Yes. You can connect multiple Shopify stores to a single Dream MRP organisation, or have each store in its own organisation. Repeat the install process from the App Store for each additional store.

My email matched an account I don't recognise.

Dream MRP searches all organisations across all regions for your email. If you see an unexpected match, it's possible a colleague used the same email address to create an account. Contact support if you're unsure.
